1/2 estalo
½ estalo is a series of three interactive sound objects. estalo #1 is a tape recorder over a wooden board, on it you can record on any spot of the perimeter of the tape that turns around the board. estalo #2 is a contact mic over a metal sheet where sounds were amplified. estalo #3 is a musical scale of described noises (all in Portuguese): ringtone, bus breaking, car accelerating, honking, footsteps, and voices. For two months, I took the three objects to the street, the video below showcases some of the recorded moments.
The project was selected to be one of the works at Projeto Vitrine 2015 at the (late) gallery .Aurora. estalo #1 went under a redesign to live for all of September in a space of 1x1x1 m at the gallery. On the last day of its stay, we took it for a walk on the nearst square, Praça da República. I have a playlist of the weekly sound records made by it. At the end of Projeto Vitrine, a second exhibition featured all four artists selected for Projeto Vitrine 2015. This time I took estalo #2 to see São Paulo.
During this project I kept a Tumblr and the final report on the research is available here, both are in Portuguese.
